Amanda's Portfolio

Yes it is I the somewhat quirky new owner for The Winds of Change. Thank you so much for all your positive feedback over this past year. Sometimes your kind words and enthusiastic proclamations that we will succeed has been all that has kept me going.

I have always been raised in an open encouraging way, told that I can choose my own way and that what we do affects the ones around us…in unspoken and sometimes unthinkable ways. This is where I am under a strong belief that humanity needs to wake up and start taking responsibility for their actions. Not that I expect we should be perfect as a race overnight, but that we start to choose a more graceful way. A way that accepts we live in a universe governed by a divine benevolent force. I do not need to label this energy, I just find I need to practice trusting it!

Life has indeed hired a wrecking ball and torn down my building more then once, and for that I am grateful as it frees me to fly on the winds of change. No coincidence there that my store happens to have the same name. Through it all I study and learn, fine tune my behavior and do my best to offer you – the reader – an authentic experience. I am open to suggestions and comradeship throughout this business venture, I do not believe it beneficial to shut anyone out.

I know that I have disappointed some people, and this was the necessary uglies of business this year. One one hand I apologize to the ones out there who never got their precious presents on time (or in some cases not at all) and tell you that your sacrifice on the other hand helped to keep the business in good financial standings over this past economic low in Canada. Some 5th street merchants told me this was the worst year (2009) that we have had in 30years! So we are proud as anything to be entering 2010 along side our other downtown business friends. And offer our heartfelt goodbyes to the ones of you that decided to close the doors to business and open the doors to other life adventures.

I am an environmentalist, trained in biology. I never expected to be in business, except that my family has always been entrepreneurial. I care deeply about this beautiful planet, about life in these transition times, and changing subtly the way we do business. This was partly the motivation to opening The Centre inside the store, so that customers and friends could access much needed services, in a safe and easy way. I personally screen all people that work out of the store, and ensure that when you need a helping hand, it is from someone coming from love..not ego desires to fix you. The truth that we are all coming to as a human race is that we were created in perfection, and it is only our bent perception of our selves that we need to correct. Subconscious healing techniques, meditation, and positive comrades are all vital for this to occur. So when the weather is soggy the winter and you can’t hang out with the trees, come and hang out with us!

Here I am with BabaTree baskets from Ghana. I love this company. We got a heartwarming email from the makers of these baskets last Christmas, that the sales were approaching a level that was truly beginning to better their lives. That they were able to stay and tend their crops, harvest them and have food. Be self sustaining and not need to leave their land and families to work in the cities for $1.00 a day. God, things like this make you pause a minuet and realize how lucky we are, and how when we direct our small earnings powerfully we can help so many beautiful people. Their website is also on our link page.

A bit of stats for you about me:

I am a Gemini with Leo ascendant, astrology charts accuracy astound me. I am on a mission here on the planet, and though we may be relatively unknown…we have the power to move unseen and do what we came here to do….improve the system! Bring love back into focus, manifest clearly all that is whole, happy, and helpful. I am 33 and most of you have met my baby gypsy! Oh you will see him trotting around the store and on the site…our designer included him in here. Just wouldn’t be and authentic Winds of Change experience without the crystal pup. I grew up in the valley living in Royston most of my life. I have packed about 4 different lives into my one life, so don’t let my age deceive you, I am well learned, thoughtful and able to discuss far out topics with you.

Cheers, I look forward to continuing our winds of change experience with you.
